Waterfront Business Park
It is industry that fires Barrow's economy and the Waterfront Business Park will be yet another facility to attract new and existing businesses to set up in the town.
As with the whole of The Waterfront Barrow-in-Furness Masterplan, Waterfront Business Park will symbolise a new era for the town. Waterfront Business Park - which consists of Ramsden, St Andrews and Anchor Line business parks - will cater for the whole spectrum of businesses - from office, research and development to industrial, storage, warehousing and distribution.
Providing for a wide range of businesses will help diversify the economy of a town that has in the past has relied on a small number of large employers for its prosperity.
With competitive prices set at £80-£100,000 per acre, West Lakes Renaissance will be casting the net far and wide to find a developer who can help realise this vision. The £8 million worth of North West Regional Development Agency money needed to create Ramsden Business Park - the first of the three to be started – was awarded in August and land contractors Alfred McAlpine started work in September. Capita Symonds has designed the site.
Ramsden Business Park is being marketed on behalf of West Lakes Renaissance by local enterprise agency, Furness Enterprise and already there is significant interest from companies with investment and job creating projects in locating on the site.
