Westlakes Science & Technology Park - Moor Row
Westlakes Science and Technology Park is a high quality business park that primarily serves West Cumbria’s vibrant nuclear industry.
The park – which is just a few miles from Sellafield – is home to scores of nuclear and engineering businesses and consultancies and also has world-class research and educational facilities.
Companies, organisations and facilities based at the site include the headquarters of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority; the United Kingdom Atomic Energy; West Cumbria Development Agency; Westlakes Research Institute; Washington Group International and West Lakes Renaissance.
The development of the park started in the early 1990s with the refurbishment of Ingwell Hall, which is now home to several companies.
The first phase of expansion started in 1999, followed by the send phase six years later. A third phase is planned to further boost the number of businesses on the park and increase the number of striking and modern office accommodation that has been built.
Westlakes Properties have led the development of the park with funding and assistance from West Lakes Renaissance and the Northwest Regional Development Agency.
As well as expanding the business park there are also plans to improve the A595 – the major arterial road not only for the park but for the spine of West Cumbria.
