Maryport Marina
Maryport’s magnificent coastal location has been its greatest asset through history – helping to import and export products while also drawing visitors for far and wide.
So it is no surprise that there is a long waiting list to moor at the marina. However, significant improvements are needed to bring the facilities up to date and maximise the marina’s great potential.
West Lakes Renaissance is leading the second phase of redevelopment at the marina, which totals around £1.3 million. The work includes the reorganisation of the marinas lay out to maximise space, and the creation of new pontoons and new moorings that will accommodate the yachts and boats of today.
There will also be the creation of new high quality office space for harbour staff, which will also benefit staff at the marina’s boat yard.
The improvements to Maryport’s marina will not only help attract more yacht and boat tourists to the town, but will also play an important part in raising the profile of West Cumbria to a lucrative tourism sector.
With improvements planned for Whitehaven and Workington marinas; exciting plans for Harrington’s harbour; and a new 350-berth marina at The Waterfront Barrow-in-Furness the ultimate aim is to establish a chain of attractive marinas that will give yacht and boat tourists a fantastic reasons to come and visit the region.
