Significant developments are planned to unlock the economic potential of in the Derwent Valley area of Workington town centre.

This large area of land next to the River Derwent is earmarked for a flagship leisure, retail and environmental development, which ranges from environmental improvements to a new sports centre and stadium and a brand new supermarket.

The sports facility will include a synthetic sports pitch, full size swimming pool and an 8,000 seater stadium to replace the dilapidated Borough Park and Derwent Park grounds.

The development will be anchored by a new Tesco supermarket on the laundry field site.
